Exclusive Interview: Rookie group MYNAME
After debuting a year, we have all become matured.
Created by talented group Fly to the Sky’s Hwanhee, MYNAME debuted in late October 2011 with 5 members comprising of Gunwoo, Insoo, Seyong, JunQ and Chaejin. Having debuted only a year and releasing their debut single , MYNAME proceeded with their debut in Japan releasing their 2nd Japan Single album, <What’s Up> and rose to the top 5 of the Oricon Daily Charts alongside Girls’ Generation, which is a pretty amazing feat for a rookie group. Recently, already gaining immense popularity in both Korea and Japan, they held a fanmeeting. Entertainment Unlimited reporter was there to record the happenings of the fanmeet as well as conduct an exclusive interview with the 5 members of MYNAME.
MYNAME Interview
EU: MYNAME has debuted for a year, are there any moments that has an important meaning?
MN: From the day of our debut, we had many tough times. We’re together for pretty long now and we always practice till late at night everyday. After debuting for a year, we changed a lot and matured. Not only for a year, for the next 2-3 years, this is very important.
EU: Are there any targets for the future?
MN: Firstly in Korea, we hope that for our events, we could do the best and get first. We hope to go to China as well and hold events there.
EU: On the topic of China, what do you first think of it?
Insoo: About 10 years ago when I was 16 years old, I went to China. It’s true! I went to the Great Wall of China. There’s nothing as vast as that place.
Seyong: I went to China when I was in high school. China’s Qingdao. High school is good.
Gunwoo: If I were to mention China, it must be the Olympics. They did well in the Beijing Olympics.
Chaejin: There are a lot of figurines which are made like humans like the terracotta warriors. That’s amazing.
EU: All the members live together right? So how do you guys assign the housework?
Seyong: We each have a role at home. Chaejin and I clean the bedrooms.
Insoo: We also live with our manager. But our manager doesn’t do the housework, so we have to do it.
Seyong: Say something to our manager.
Insoo: We’re very envious.
Seyong: Chaejin and I will clean the bedrooms, JunQ and Insoo hyung will wash the toilet and our leader Gunwoo will clean the rest of the house.
Member’s Interview
EU: Recently, we realized that you guys have been changing your hairstyles pretty often. Are you all very fashion-conscious? Till now, which is your favourite hairstyle?
Gunwoo: Yes, I’m very fashion-conscious and always think of changing hairstyles. Because of that, our hairstylists are always very stressed. I really like the hairstyle I had during “Hello & Goodbye” promotions. When I see the monitor during the filming of the MV, I really liked that hairstyle.
EU: Insoo loves to work out. Let’s talk about your muscles.
Insoo: This is a difficult question.
Seyong: Isn’t it all meat? Insoo’s meat is all muscles.
EU: JunQ’s rap is good, we heard that he’s also writing lyrics. When could we hear them?
JunQ: I’m practicing very hard, when there’s chance next time, I will show it to everyone and will continue to work and practice hard.
EU: A lot of fans find that Seyong is very handsome and is also image-conscious. Do you always look into the mirror?
Seyong: Yes, I’m image-conscious. But it’s Gunwoo who always looks at the mirror.
EU: Because Chaejin is the maknae, do the hyungs always ask you to do things?
Chaejin: It’s Gunwoo who always asks me to do things haha. After practice and at home, everyone will start to ask me to do things.

Gunwoo’s Bag
Gunwoo’s charcoal grey big shoulder bag is of a conservative colour. He said that he must have a book in his bag because he loves reading. If there’s time, he’ll do some reading. The other must-have item is his practice sports attire. Gunwoo specially showed us one of his precious item. There was once he picked a tarot card which depicts very good luck. He took a picture of the card and set it as his iPod wallpaper.
Seyong’s Bag
When Seyong opened his bag, he hesitated which item to take out. When he shyly took out his practice sports pants, the other members all laughed loudly which made Seyong even more embarrassed. But Seyong explained that he needs to change to the pants during practice so he’ll always put it in his bag. Conscious-image Seyong has a lot of shades which is one of his must-have item. But~ Seyong has really too many shades!
Chaejin’s Bag
Music lover Chaejin took out his cool headphones from his bag. The next item he took out is a bottle of cologne. The other members started buzzing saying because Chaejin dislikes bathing so he needs to bring a bottle of cologne in his bag. Chaejin immediately denied and said that he likes the scent of the cologne so he brings it with him everywhere! Chaejin will also bring his notebook everyday.
Insoo’s Bag
Practice sports attire seems to be a must-have item in MYNAME members’ bags. Insoo explained that they spend a lot of time practicing everyday so all of them need to bring their practice attire. And recently Insoo has been diligently working out has also health supplements in his bag. The other members laughed and said that Insoo’s target is to have a body like his bag charm. Insoo then laughed and said he’ll look like a comic character like that!
JunQ’s Bag
JunQ’s bright fuchsia bag resembles his prominent smile. He said that his most important item in his bag is his toothbrush and toothpaste. JunQ is also pretty conscious of maintaining good skin thus he also brings some facial products in his bag. For image wise, he said he is different from Seyong. He only needs a pair of shades and woolen scarf!

Produced by singer Hwanhee (Fly to the Sky), 5-member idol boy group, MYNAME showcased their first single, Message and their unique feet-stomping dance, grabbing the attention of many Asian fans. Keeping aside their powerful stage presence, the 5 members of MYNAME, Gunwoo, Seyong, Insoo, JunQ and Chaejin appeared cheerful and seemed a little shy.
