[Trans - Interview] MYNAME, a cheeky idol group making a comeback after 8 months

“We rested for 8 months. Are we anxious? Not at all. We only concentrated on preparing for our overseas promotions and the new album so we didn’t realize time flying by.”
MYNAME is back. Debuting with ‘Message’ last year and creating a sensation in the pop industry, MYNAME is making a comeback with their latest album and title track ‘Hello & Goodbye’. They maximized their strong vocal and performance skills and plan to showcase their talents in not just one but various genres of music.
While they showed their unique performance style in their debut album, they will be showcasing exceptional vocal abilities which other idols have not attempted before in this new album.
This album is something that each member and the entertainment reporters are expecting to be a huge hit. This is because of an accident at the filming site.
“At the music video filming site, the lights blew up one by one and almost caused a huge accident. Luckily it was fixed quickly and nobody got hurt. The lights suddenly blew up at the site and it shocked us, but we didn’t feel bad. I think it’s a sign of a big hit. We are also confident because we have worked hard in preparing for this. We’ve put in a lot of time. We got a lot of questions asking us if we’re worried about all the recent boy groups that debuted, but we’re not. We put in our all in whatever work we had and worked hard on making this album.”
With MYNAME’s confidence, they will permeate the grounds with exceptionally upgraded talents. Youngest Chaejin explained, “We felt a lot of things while preparing for this album for about 8 months. In terms of singing, I asked the hyungs about this and that and concentrated while devoting my time to developing myself.”
Eldest brother Insoo said, “Seeing Chaejin upgrading his talents further, we were the ones who learnt a lot from him. We also felt a lot of things while teaching him. While doing friendly competitions, I think we felt good about each other. That’s why we want to get on stage quickly and show you our image.”
If so, how exactly have they upgraded their charms? Leader Gunwoo was sure of himself and said, “The vocal line will be overwhelming. The singing has gotten a lot harder. Even if we moderate our singing, we will capture attention with the strong dancing. We are certainly different from other idols.”
Meanwhile, MYNAME’s first single album’s title song ‘Hello & Goodbye’ is a song that excellently shows the meeting and parting in love, and the mentality of a bad boy who who says goodbye to his lover. But it is also filled with the painful feelings of a guy who finds the new start of ‘Hello’ and the last ‘Goodbye’ difficult and regrets his past. In the end, he knows that he can’t go back to those times and tell each other not to hurt anymore, expressing the complicated thoughts of a man who is hurting in love.
Apart from this, there is also the intro song ‘Say My Name’ which is a song that shows the musical style of this new album. While expressing the feelings of beauty and loneliness simultaneously, the chorus has a fantasy-feeling and heartbeat sounds that marks MYNAME’s new start. Also, the outro song ‘I’ll forget’ is a song that teacher Hwanhee personally gifted his students MYNAME with. The mournful voices of teacher and student harmonizes together, completing their own unique style.
MYNAME plans to make their comeback on June 1st through KBS2 TV’s Music Bank.
